Nagma plays a small piece of a raga over and over again with a number of selectable tals so the tablaji can practice with an instrument in rhythm and sympathy with the music as well as with different selectable tals.
Lehera is most commonly encountered when the lead instrumentalist plays a short piece of a raga over and over again in the background while the tablaji plays a solo to it.
Therefore if you have in mind to be able to do this then the Nagma will be of great use to you, also to practice your tablas with different tals and ragas.
It is does not replace either the tabla machine or the CDs in order to learn actual tals from examples, however, as it doesn't provide these.
The Ashwin Batish CDs, Sur Sangat Sur Sagar Hi-Bit Sampled Electronic Tabla machine, or the Riyaz Master Pro Sampled Tabla machine, all also sold by us, are the vehicles of choice to learn and practice tals.
Nagma contains a single drone that may be off or at whatever relative level you may choose. It also has a metronome that is selectable for variable beats to the bar and output level.
Nagma is not a substitute for either the Riyaz RAAGINI Pro Sampled Electronic Tanpura or the Riyaz MASTER Professional Sampled Electronic Tabla. It has it's own "Lehera" function to perform in the same way as these other electronic instruments and CDs have their own roles to play.
